The Studio
Goff's studio is on the top floor of the old Mitre Hotel, which was a furniture/fancy goods store called 'Alan's' of Brynmawr. It is now two shops - Travellers World and a bridal shop. Although the postal address is 50a Beaufort Street, the door to the studio is in Worcester Street under the large arched window. Goff is on the top floor.
When not in the studio Goff uses the surrounding countryside to provide visual information which he records in drawing, painting and photographic terms. This forms the basis for reference work which will be developed as future paintings progress.
The studio is a typical artists studio - all paint and chaos, although his wife has done a massive tidy up and the place will not be recognised. Everyone loves the atmosphere of the studio and Goff has loads of visitors each week. They may leave with masking tape on their shoes and paint on their clothes if they aren't careful but they hare guaranteed a great time.
The reason for the tidy up is the development of a showroom on the floor below the studio. Goff is now able to display his wide range of images. There are other rooms available and they will be developed in the near future. One room as been set aside as a restoration and repair workshop, Goff is often asked to repair and restore old paintings with rips and smoke damage.
When the decoration and renovation of the two floors is complete the studio will be open at least four days a week when Goff's wife Christine will be available to show people around. We will announce the date for this soon.
If you visit and Goff is not at the studio, contact him on his mobile - Tel No: 07814077517. He is unable to be at the studio all day as he has to visit galleries, printers and framers.
