Welcome to Goff Danter Online. The purpose of this web site is to present an opportunity for anyone interested in my type of art, to appreciate individual pieces and where appropriate buy originals and/or prints online via the online shop.
I am particularly keen that anyone able to visit me either in The Studio or via the Internet should feel comfortable and not under any pressure to buy work. In fact, the main reason for offering open access to my Studio is to provide like minded people with the opportunity to relax in the creative surroundings, whilst enjoying a greater understanding of my work and production techniques.
Painting can be an isolated activity but sharing the creative processes involved can be very satisfying and rewarding, whenever it is possible to do so.
Although the paintings I create have personal recollection and experience as their foundation, their appeal is quite wide ranging.
One of the reasons which is often mentioned to explain their appeal, is their apparent 'honesty' as images and their total lack of pretence. These qualities often seem to be lacking in some contemporary offerings.
I have a diverse taste in the appreciation of art and great respect for many styles of painting. However, I should explain that having studied at well established art colleges in the late 1960's, at a time where the 'anything goes' culture was at its peak, it took many years for me to find my way. Only in recent times have I acquired a confidence in my own understanding of art, the paint for my own purpose, in my own way regardless of trends and prejudices. This has only become possible as the years unfolded and my life experiences grew wider.
Now, I quite simply produce what I consider is an extension of my own awareness/understanding of the world around me. This is achieved by avoiding the pretentious claptrap that was often considered all important in the artificial art college world that I was once part of.
Sadly, although there is room for all points of view, I have little regard for the condescending attitudes and the superficial qualities that are sometimes offered up as 'art' in today's market.
I, like most people have come to appreciate what I prefer and consider that the images I create adequately represent my taste. Painting has become a further means of expression which enables me to share with others my own view or understanding of a personal experience. This is for me, the ideal form for communicating some of the qualities of life which I particularly appreciate as having influenced me. The area in which I have lived, grown and worked is visually stimulating. Through this site I am able to share my interpretation of this environment with an increasing international audience.
His individual style and the quality of his work has led to great demand. In fact, Goff's work is now established as being amongst the most sought after in the contemporary art market in Wales.
Due to this popularity, his work has steadily risen in value, whereby gallery prices for originals start from £3,500 and upwards. New paintings are eagerly anticipated by an avid group of collectors and enthusiasts, regularly being sold out. Many now regard these originals as sound investment opportunities for the future.
One recent example : A collector bought a small original for £2000 and was able to resell it for £3750 a couple of months later. A very shrewd and profitable, investment.
